Subcision is a safe and effective procedure that can correct the appearance of acne scars on many parts of the body. By using a very fine needle, this treatment works to stimulate production of collagen and elastin.
Are you tired of being reminded of acne from the past? Acne scars can profoundly impact one’s self-confidence. If your self-esteem has been affected by acne scars, subcision is one of the most effective methods we offer to help you forget about past acne and look toward a more radiant future for your skin.
For deep scars, nothing rivals this procedure. No laser or other procedure gets as deep into the skin as subcision. This is a safe and effective procedure that can correct the appearance of acne scars on many parts of the body. By using a very fine needle with a cutting edge (Nokor syringe), this treatment works to release the tough collagen / adhesions that “pull” the skin down. It also stimulates the skin’s production of collagen and elastin: two main structural proteins that help the skin appear firm and healthy. The end result is healthier, lustrous skin.
Many people experience bruising with this procedure – this is actually a good thing, as the platelets which are deposited in the skin as part of the bruise help grow collagen, thereby helping to “prop up” the treated acne scar. On that theme, we will often combine subcision with platelet rich plasma therapy to minimize the risk of recurrence of the scar.
Good question. Subcision is a surgical procedure. It cannot be done in a MediSpa nor can it be performed by an esthetician. It is primarily done by surgical dermatologists. Moreover, the procedure is not marketed online by large laser companies or elsewhere as the results are produced by a skilled surgeon using essentially what is a modified scalpel.
Dr. Alanen has been performing this remarkable procedure in his certified non-Hospital facility for over a decade. When patients are properly selected (i.e. patients with depressed / indented golf ball dimple type scars), the results can be dramatic. Subcision has been referred to as “incisionless surgery” as there are no sutures, no scalpel marks (and therefore no scars from the procedure).
Many people have been able to see noticeable results after their first subcision treatment session. Depending on how deep and severe the acne scars may be will depend on the amount of treatment session you may need.
Our team can customize a treatment plan best tailored to your cosmetic needs. Ultimately, results will vary from person to person.
Subcision may be an ideal treatment option for you if you have moderate to severe acne scars and are looking for a safe and effective, minimally invasive treatment.

I get deep acne bumps at the worst possible times. I have called the clinic on several occasions in the recent past and they always get me in so that my acne bump does not turn into a scar. I am so thankful and impressed
