LIP ENHANCEMENT INJECTION

Lip Enhancement Injections, often referred to as lip augmentation, are a safe and highly effective procedure to improve lip volume, lip shape, and lip structure. At Derm.ca, we inject a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler which delivers plump fuller lips, restoring a radiant youthful appearance.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance produced by the body, with the majority of it being found in the skin. Injecting hyaluronic acid into the lips, binds moisture molecules together which creates fuller, more voluminous lips. In addition, it helps regulate and maintain cell growth but, eliminating the diminishing effect of lip tissue which occurs naturally over time.

The lip enhancement injection procedure is performed in the Derm.ca clinic by Dr. Alanen or another Dermatologist. Our procedure does not require a numbing cream as the dermal filler contains a small amount of lidocaine which minimizes discomfort during the session. The Doctor will mark the areas to be treated, and then inject the hyaluronic acid filler using very tiny needles.

The procedure is generally completed within 30 minutes, with most patients reporting very little discomfort or pain. After the treatment, patients will experience some redness, swelling, itching and tenderness which generally subsides within a week. There is no down time or recovery period, with most patients resuming regular activities immediately after the procedure.

Many patients see fuller, plumper lips shortly after the treatment session, with maximum results appearing after the swelling has come down. Results can last up to 8 months but vary from patient to patient.
