How does Platelet Rich Plasma therapy work?
PRP takes advantage of the fact that platelets are your body’s riches source of growth factors. PRP has been done for years in sports medicine and orthopedics for rejuvenating cartilage and tendon but only recently has it been recognized to be a tissue rejuvenating process for skin. During the procedure, a small vial of blood is removed (just like when you get a blood test). Then, your own growth factors are extracted from platelets in our certified laboratory. Afterwards, the platelets are delicately placed into your neck and chest with an ultrafine needle microinjection system. The collagen promoting growth factors can now get to work ! New collagen growth does not occur immediately; the best results are noticed in several months.
How are the best results from PRP achieved ?
Often PRP is combined with other procedures such as non-ablative picosecond lasers and vascular laser. Also, if it is deemed optimal at the time of your consultation, we will often perform direct dermal infusion therapy whereby vitamins, minerals and tissue rejuvenating growth factor peptides are precisely placed to augment the tissue rejuvenating process.
Am I a good candidate for PRP neck and chest rejuvenation ?
If your neck skin is lax, has irregular pigmentation and broken capillaries or excess redness, yes indeed.
How long does it take ?
Platelet preparation is about 20 minutes (including the blood draw). The entire procedure takes about 45 minutes.
Is it painful ?
Perhaps surprisingly, no. We all know what a blood test feels like and the platelet microinjection system is essentially painless. If you are pain sensitive, numbing cream can be used 30 minutes before the treatment starts (most patients don’t do this).
How many PRP sessions will I need for neck rejuvenation ?
On average, three treatments are required.
