BOTOX & JUVÉDERM FAQ
What should I expect during and after treatment?
Most appointments take 30–60 minutes depending on the areas being treated. BOTOX injections are quick and involve minimal discomfort — most patients describe a slight pinching sensation. JUVÉDERM injections may cause mild pressure or a brief stinging sensation; a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand, and most JUVÉDERM formulations contain lidocaine for added comfort.
After treatment, you may experience minor redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects are temporary and typically resolve within a few days. There is no significant downtime — most patients return to their regular activities the same day.
When will I see results?
BOTOX results typically begin to appear within 3–7 days, with full results visible around the two-week mark. JUVÉDERM results are immediate — you'll notice a difference as soon as you leave the clinic. Any initial swelling will subside over the first few days, revealing your final result.
How long do results last?
BOTOX results generally last 3–4 months. With consistent maintenance, many patients find that results last longer over time as the treated muscles gradually weaken. JUVÉDERM results vary by product and treatment area — lip filler typically lasts 6–12 months, while cheek and jawline filler can last 12–18 months or longer.
Who is a good candidate for BOTOX & JUVÉDERM?
Most healthy adults who are bothered by signs of facial aging — including dynamic wrinkles, volume loss, or loss of facial contour — are good candidates for one or both treatments. A consultation with our team will help determine which products and treatment areas are right for your goals.
You may not be a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular disorder, are taking certain medications that affect clotting, or have a known allergy to any components of the products. Your provider will review your full health history at your consultation.
Is BOTOX safe?
Yes. BOTOX has an extensive safety record and is one of the most widely studied cosmetic treatments in the world. It is Health Canada-approved and has been used safely in both cosmetic and medical applications for decades. At Derm.ca, all injectable treatments are performed by trained professionals under the supervision of our dermatologists.
Is JUVÉDERM safe?
JUVÉDERM is Health Canada-approved and made from hyaluronic acid — a biocompatible substance naturally present in the body. It is well-tolerated by most patients and can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed, making it a reversible option. As with any injectable, there is a small risk of bruising, swelling, or asymmetry, which can be addressed at a follow-up appointment.
Can BOTOX and JUVÉDERM be done in the same visit?
Yes — and it's quite common. Many patients choose to combine both treatments in a single appointment for a more comprehensive result. Your provider will assess your anatomy and discuss a treatment plan that prioritizes your most important concerns.
How much do BOTOX and JUVÉDERM cost?
Pricing depends on the number of areas treated and the amount of product used. We provide a full cost breakdown at your consultation so there are no surprises. Financing options through Affirm are available — see below for details.
